Harm Reduction

Is a set of practical strategies aimed at reducing the negative consequences (such as: spreading HIV/Hep C to others from sharing dirty needles) associated with drug use. It focuses mainly on the person who uses drugs, but can expand to include the family and community. Initiatives may incorporate a spectrum a strategies from safer use, to managed use, to abstinence to meet people who use drugs "where they're at".
